The National Minimum Wage rate increases from 1st October 2014.
All workers are entitled to the National Minimum Wage except for those who are self-employed or children of compulsory shcool age. Payment of expenses are not classed as earnings when calculating the NMW.
Workers aged 21 and above must be paid £6.50 per hour (previously £6.31)
Workers aged 18 to 20 must be paid £5.13 per hour (previously £5.03)
Workers aged 16-17 must be paid £3.79 per hour (previously £3.72)
Apprentices must be paid £2.73 per hour (previously £2.68)
